Eating Disorder
Beginning the journey to recovery from an eating disorder takes courage. An individual’s relationship with food, with their body and appearance are all deeply personal. Taking the first step to ask for help is scary, and many individuals fear embarrassment when considering professional help. Tennessee Counseling is the best partner for premier, experienced clinicians, clinical oversight, medication management and evidence-based therapies.
Eating disorders come in a staggering array. The most commonly noted are anorexia, bulimia, and more recently, there has been a raised public awareness of binge eating disorder. Many of us have unhealthy relationships with food, and our relationship with food can be one of the most powerful predictors of overall health throughout our lifetime.
Individuals who display symptoms of an eating disorder or have been diagnosed with an eating disorder may have underlying emotional issues like anxiety or depression. It is essential to engage a therapist that can identify and offer treatment for dual diagnoses.
Your clinician at Tennessee Counseling will use a thorough combination of assessments and tools to make an accurate diagnosis and then create an individualized treatment plan to address your unique situation.
