Mattie Crockett is a Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider in the state of Tennessee. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, and her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health from Middle Tennessee State University. In the last three years, Mattie has worked with individuals, couples, and families experiencing trauma, trauma-related challenges, anxiety, depression, self-esteem/identity, mood disorders, and OCD. She views the counseling process as an alliance between client and therapist and considers the clients as the experts of their lives. Mattie states, “within the structure of the therapeutic relationship clients can access their inner strengths and promote change.”
Mattie is trained in Brainspotting, a technique used for re-processing trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and many other challenges one might face throughout life. In addition to Brainspotting, Mattie utilizes many evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems. Her main goal as a counselor is to provide a safe environment where her clients may explore primary interests, develop goals, and determine strengths.
In her free time, Mattie enjoys all activities that involve the outdoors. She is often found hiking in the beautiful mountains in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, biking on whatever trail she can find, or floating down a river, and camping with friends. She also enjoys gardening and making homemade goods. She enjoys traveling, exploring new areas, and finding excitement wherever she goes.
