Clay Harris holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Master’s in Christian Education. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health Service Provider and Approved Clinical Supervisor. He has over 20 years of experience providing individual, group, couples, and family counseling for clients in private practice, inpatient, and outpatient environments. Clay is EMDR Level I & II trained and is also trained / certified in a number of Evidenced-Based Treatment models such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Play Therapy. Clay was also a pioneer in the early stages of Sports Psychology where he spent time specifically working with athletes to improve their mental health, while providing education and advocacy. Clay has provided direct licensure supervision for clinicians statewide. Clay is actively involved in ensuring the state of Tennessee is making progress in mental health. He is a proud member for over 10 years of the TLPCA (Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselors Association) and has served in leadership roles that included President, Secretary and Public Policy Chair. Clay is also a mental health advocate in Tennessee and provides consultation on legislative bills related to improving mental health. Clay believes that with the right help, anyone can find hope and healing. Clay encourages clinicians and clients to go beyond symptom management and address the drivers that influence them. Outside of work, Clay enjoys spending time with his amazing wife of 20 years and his two awesome daughters, playing golf and going to music concerts.
