Carly Hedrick, LCSW

Carly Hedrick is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Tennessee. Carly graduated with her Master’s degree in Social Work from East Tennessee State University. She also earned a Master’s degree in Divinity from Emmanuel Christian Seminary. Carly’s approach to therapy is shaped by past occupational experiences which have taught her to sit with others in painful emotions and stressful circumstances and listen with compassion, curiosity, and acceptance. Carly believes therapy should be empowering, and she aims to help her clients build on their strengths, gain new perspectives and skills, and support improvement with their overall quality of life. Carly has worked previously in a variety of settings, most recently in outpatient community mental health, where she assisted clients with a wide range of symptoms, including anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, grief, chronic illness, low self-esteem, life transitions, and relationship and parenting issues. She also completed a chaplain residency at Johnson City Medical Center. Carly is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems with Presence Psychotherapy Integration. She also incorporates treatment interventions from other theoretical approaches, including Person Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, to best fit her clients’ needs. Her additional divinity training helps Carly to address those areas a client may have experienced in life where spirituality or religious trauma and mental health coexist. In her free time, Carly can be found enjoying time with her husband, son, and friends, playing board games, spending time in nature, watching comedy, reading, or baking. As a mother to a child with special needs, Carly is passionate about creating a more inclusive world that values our differences. “We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken.” ― John Green
