Ava Vaughan, LPC/MHSP

Ava Vaughan is a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. Ava earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Radford University and completed her Master’s Degree with Honors, at Lindsey Wilson College. 

Ava has provided counseling and psychotherapy for over 12 years. She assists her clients with anxiety symptoms, depressive symptoms, stressors, mood disorder issues, relationship concerns, grief and loss, and life transitions. Ava also enjoys working with those who simply want to incorporate therapy as a form of self-care. Ava has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. Ava has extensive knowledge of military life, parenting, and navigating life with a history of trauma. Ava is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and uses an integrative approach with her clients primarily focused with use of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Mindfulness. Ava believes that healing and personal growth are holistic endeavors. Together, Ava can help you identify and accomplish your goals in ways that support practical, positive change, in order to increase your quality of life. 

Ava lives in southwestern Virginia with her daughter and their dog, Cujo, who is part German Shepherd and part Husky. Cujo can seem intimidating, but he will be your best friend if you pet him and call him a good boy. In Ava’s free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts, cooking, gardening, taking in the local arts scene, and traveling.
